The Expanse Ship Models: Rocinante, Donnager and MCRN Fleet Guide

Printverse3D 20-inch Rocinante Corvette Class Light Frigate model

For a first The Expanse ship model, choose the Rocinante if you want the most recognisable hero ship, the Donnager for capital-ship mass, or the Razorback for a cleaner racing profile. Collectors building a broader MCRN fleet can add the Scirocco, Morrigan, Troika, Amun-Ra and Pella in different physical sizes.

This guide covers the physical models currently sold by Printverse3D. Display lengths refer to the finished products, not a single shared fictional scale.

Quick guide to the available ships

  • Most recognisable: Rocinante, available at 20 or 30 inches.
  • Capital-ship centrepiece: Donnager Class, available at 13 or 20 inches.
  • Long military profile: Scirocco Class at 22 or 26 inches.
  • Sleek civilian/racing option: Razorback at 13, 20 or 26 inches.
  • Compact fleet additions: 5.5-inch Troika or 12-inch Amun-Ra.
  • UN display option: UN One shuttle at 10 or 16 inches.

Rocinante: the natural starting point

The Rocinante is a Corvette Class light frigate and the central ship of The Expanse story. Its stacked, functional hull makes it visually different from conventional horizontal science-fiction spacecraft. The 20-inch Rocinante is the more practical collector size; the 30-inch Rocinante is intended as a room-level feature piece.

There are also non-Rocinante Corvette Class versions at 20 inches and 30 inches for collectors building a broader Martian fleet.

Donnager Class: choose mass over length alone

The Donnager is the battleship silhouette in this group: dense, blocky and visually heavy. The 13-inch Donnager Class can anchor a mixed fleet without taking over the shelf. The 20-inch Donnager Class is the centrepiece choice.

Do not compare a 20-inch Donnager directly with a 20-inch Rocinante as though they share an in-universe scale. They are display models sized to show their individual forms. A collection can look cohesive through consistent stands and spacing even when fictional scale is not preserved.

Scirocco and other MCRN warships

The Scirocco Class has a longer, more open military silhouette than the Donnager. It is available at 22 inches or 26 inches. Both require a long clear shelf, but the 22-inch version is easier to combine with another ship.

For smaller additions, the 17-inch Morrigan Class Patrol Destroyer and 5.5-inch Troika Class Dropship add different levels of the MCRN fleet. The 21-inch Raptor Class Pella provides another strong military display profile.

Razorback: three sizes for a cleaner display

The Razorback racing pinnace is a strong choice when you prefer a sleek spacecraft over a heavily armed hull. Choose the 13-inch Razorback for a desk or compact shelf, the 20-inch Razorback for a normal feature display, or the 26-inch Razorback when the model will stand alone.

Stealth, UN and specialist ships

The 12-inch Amun-Ra Class Stealth Frigate is a compact dark-hull option that contrasts well with larger MCRN ships. The 10-inch UN One shuttle and 16-inch UN One shuttle introduce a cleaner civilian-government design language. The 23.5-inch Orion Class Heavy Frigate is another large-format choice.

How to build a three-ship display

For the clearest story-driven trio, combine a Rocinante, Donnager and Razorback. For a military lineup, use Donnager, Scirocco and Morrigan. If space is limited, use the 13-inch Donnager, 12-inch Amun-Ra and 5.5-inch Troika, then vary stand height to keep every silhouette visible.

Frequently asked questions

Which Rocinante model should I choose?

The 20-inch version is easier to display and ship; the 30-inch version provides stronger room presence. Measure the complete usable shelf space and allow clearance around the stand.

Are all these ships the same scale?

No. The listed inch measurements describe the physical models. The range is designed for display choice rather than a single fictional fleet scale.

Which model works best as a gift?

The 20-inch Rocinante is the safest recognisable choice. For a collector who already owns the Roci, the 13-inch Donnager or 13-inch Razorback adds variety without requiring an exceptionally large shelf.
