This 5.5-inch MCRN Troika-class dropship from The Expanse is a physical multi-colour PLA display model. At about 14 cm, it arrives fully assembled.

Because it is small, the print resolution matters more here than on the big hulls; it is printed at a finer layer height than the larger hulls so the hull panelling still reads at this scale.

Yes. The colour is printed into the model using multi-colour 3D printing — each colour is laid down in place as it prints, not painted on afterwards, so it cannot chip or flake.

How it's made

Printed in multi-colour PLA at a fine layer height, then hand-assembled and sanded back where needed. The colours are printed into the material rather than painted on, so hull striping and panel markings cannot chip or flake. Made and finished in Sydney, Australia.

An honest note: this is FDM printing. Fine layer lines are visible up close — that is how the process works, not a defect. At normal display distance they disappear.
